Hello,
New Member here. I personally own a Corvette but my Mom has a 2006 XJ8 that I basically drive more than she does. It is a black 2006 XJ8 with the 4.2L V8 we are the original owners.
We've always taken it to the dealer but are now looking for a good shop with more reasonable prices to repair any issues that might come up. At the dealer, we recently had to get a new battery it was $160.00 for labor and $240.00 for the battery. We've had some other repairs there, while costly they do know what they're doing.
We live in Miami, Florida and the XJ8 has about 24,000 miles. It was put into service in January 2007. I joined the forum to get any help with issues that might come up and to get an idea of other people's experience with this car.
I'll attach a picture from a recent waxing/detailing I did on it, though it is not in the nicest setting.

Have a look in the "Regional" section of this Forum, and ask in there also for a local Independent type workshop.
My geograghy is lousy for the USA, but maybe??? Lower Atlantic, is your region.
Others will come along when the time zones align better and give you advice also.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
