Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! and for the links.
Being in Montreal (where this season, summer is playing hide and seek with us), I couldn't help to think ahead for the winter months. I am already checking for the winter tires. The salesperson at the dealership recommended a 18" tires, although the current ones on the car are 20" - all season. The explanation from the salesperson was that it would be cheaper. I checked his recommendation with my neighbor (works for BMW) and he agrees and recommends the same.
I would like to understand other than the price, if there are any other value to switching from a 20" to 18" tires. Should any members from the forum had given a thought on this, would love to hear from them.
Thanks,
Best Regards,
Raj

I did something similar for my S-type. As all maple syrup and poutine loving Canadians know, narrower snow tires are better than wider for getting through and not attempt to go over snow. Smaller diameter wheels usually offer the choice of narrower tires. The cost of said tires is considerably lower.
This is all offset by the cost of obtaining a second set of wheels of course.
