Default Hello from Newport, South Wales

Hi All,

I recently took the plunge, after many years of deliberating, on Jaguar ownership in the form of a rare 1997 xjr manual. This car is something of a childhood dream as it’s one of my dads dream cars.

I have many happy memories of going down the jag dealer on a Saturday and walking around the then “used car” area and seeing similar examples of xj40s, x300s and x308s to which my dad would always give an appreciative nod and say “now THAT’S a car”.

the plan is to form some of these memories with my young kids and have a grand tourer for the family to enjoy together, as well as my dad and I to take a few European tours in it when restrictions allow.

I am working through some teething issues as is to be expected with any 20+ year old car purchase, so will be leaning on this forum to sort the niggles.

otherwise the car is in brilliant cosmetic condition and I plan to keep it that way, I think the black is a great colour on these. seen in the background is my daily driver r53, completely different configurations but a common thread running through them.

all the best,
Ian

Welcome to the Forums.

Black is THE colour for sure.

That is a fine looking Jag, LAST of the "real" Jags.

Good luck.

Hello, Ian,
Congratulations on your new BLACK Jaguar! (BLACK is my favorite color for Jags) And a Fine looking example it is! Working on putting it right is the very best way to get to know a new/used car.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
