Hello from North Carolina
I finally decided to formally register here. For several years I have been benefiting from the wealth of information and knowledge that exists in this forum! Over five years ago we purchased our first Jaguar, a 95 XJ6 for my wife as her daily driver. This has proven to be one of the sturdiest and most reliable cars we have owned. I am not a mechanic but have managed to keep up with basic maintenance and troubleshooting using this forum as a resource. Last summer we upgraded to a 05 S Type 3.0, allowing more windshield time in the XJ6 for me! Unfortunately, about six weeks ago, the S Type met her premature demise when another driver pulled out of a side street resulting in a total loss. Looking at anything other than a Jag wasn't even considered! The newest addition to our garage is a 2011 XF Premium with just over 27,000 miles on the clock. I have a a lot to learn about our newest Jaguar and am sure to have many questions as well.

Hello, John,
I'm sorry to read about your S-types demise. However, a car is Never a "total loss" if it successfully protected its occupant(s) from harm in a collision.
So in the space of about 2 months, your Jaguar ownership has experienced 3 generations of Jaguar cars! Differences between '95 and '05 would have been considerable (hardly the same car), but I can only imagine the differences between '95 and 2011 (not Even the same car)!

I agree, better put, the S Type was not worth fixing as she did the job, protecting her owner. My wife walked away with only a sore shoulder from the seat belt!
Thanks for your welcome message!

Welcome to the forum John,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Sorry to hear about the end of the S-Type but good to know your wife wasn't badly injured.
As you've been lurking here for several years, there's no need for any links to the model forums from me.
