Hello from Tyler, Texas
Welcome alps! I'm your (relatively) near neighbor in Dallas. Mine is a 2002 Jag J8L, not supercharged. An old man's car for an old man! Yours will be much snappier all around and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed mine these past 3+ years. I was new to Jaguar when I bought mine with 55K miles and some extended warranty remaining. I was especially pleased that such a wonderfully SMOOTH vehicle was so reasonably priced.
But you need to understand and expect that the tradeoff is that they are really expensive to maintain; perhaps not so much with your 2009 model probably with some warranty remaining, but later on. Every part and every labor procedure costs significantly more for a Jaguar no matter what. In fact the older models are probably best left to those with superior mechanical repair skills.. I am fortunate in Dallas to have access to highly trained independent Jag father and son mechanic shop. They are totally dependable with diagnosis, advice and counsel about repairs, but their work is not cheap (except, perhaps, compared to some of the dealer 'estimates')
The best solution is to declare your Jag as your hobby, like golf, maybe. Perhaps you can thereby bypass the monthly household budget restraints. (feeble attempt at humor!)
Seriously, welcome to the Jag world. I know you will enjoy both the fine car and the great folks available on this forum to encourage and help you.

You've replied to a very old, old post, but if you're hoping to meet other local Jaguar owners in and around Tyler, TX, your timing might actually be lucky. British Bash & Christmas Market is happening on November 11th, 2023, from 11am to 4pm in downtown Terrell, just a few miles up I-20. The Jaguar Owners Assn of North Texas is planning to meet in Terrell that morning and display their Jaguars in the festival. Terrell's link to Britain is that during WW2, it was home to the No. 1 British Flying Training School.
