Default Hi All. New Member.

Hello Jaguar enthusiasts! I am the lucky recipient of a family members ride, a 2006 S-Type, 4.2 engine with only 16,500 miles when I took posession. Always garaged, rarely driven, and now all mine. WHAT A COMFORTABLE RIDE! Interior like new--gobs of engine power for passing, perfect for very long rides with incredible seat comfort. Beautiful champagne color with tan interior. Sunroof, rain sensors, upgraded stereo. I had to put a large sub in the back, because it is apparently all about the base. Tinted the windows, put in a remote start. I am looking forward to having her for many moons to come.

Default A new wrinkle with my "new" S-Type

It's strange but today a family acquaintance has offered to sell me a 1989 Jaguar XJS convertible with 34K miles., always garaged. The body is mint, covertable top intact but the headliner needs replacing. Fuel i jextion, electronic ignition. Engine just had some minor work and she's in running condition after sitting 2 years in the garage. Front seat has a big split in the bolster back seam, the walnut ramp by the shifter is cracked, there's a small fuel leak that needs to be fixed on top of manifold, the AC blows hot. Needs a correct sized battery. Suspension. Checks out fine, no rust, compression is good. The owner is looking for 13K-15K USD for this ride. I was thinking of possible selling the S-Type and maybe picking up this XJS as a "future collectible" as I don't need a daily driver. I was wondering if anyone could chime in on a recommendation of value, collectibilty, etc. Thank you!

Would this be expensive to get reupholstered?

Very lucky. I only have family members and acquaintences who want to take Jaguars FROM me!

Check the XJS tech forum before taking the plunge. Great car when running well but a lot more demanding for maintenance and repairs than an S-Type.
