I'm new and getting used to Forum wedsite
Good afternoon
I'm new to the Forum and also a new Jaguar owner. My wife wanted the car actually so we have just come into a 1999 XJS Vandan Plas V-8, stored in Red Hook , NY for over 2 years. It's actually in good shape. She started right up and purred. I then drove it from NY to MI in 2 days, with a "Restricted Performance" code on and off, and "Check Engine" light on all the way.
We live in Northport Michigan and finding someone in the area to work on it is a challenge.
To get her on the road we had to unfreeze the rusted brakes, put a rebuilt caliper, from O'Reilly's at $90.00, as the nearest Jaguar dealer wanted $932, on the front driver side and new pads on both front brakes. The rear brakes ... we were able to loosen up and move the beauty out of storage. Engine oil, brake fluid and anti freeze were changed. It runs fairly well but lacks the pick up a V-8 should have. I averaged about 22 mpg all the way.
The cruise control blew going up hill at 65 mph in western PA, so we hope to have it repaired as well as the codes cleared and get the engine responding properly.
I'm hoping for some input from y'all on the cruise control fix and what " restricted performance" means and how to remedy that also.
All the Best
