Default I'm New to this Great Forum

Hi everyone.
My name is Neal. I'm 62 now & always wanted a Jaguar. Having Lyme disease for 30 years made me say, " I will have what I want Now."
After 90 American cars I sold the 74 Nova Hatchback w/ a 350 I built & a 4 speed to get my 1997 XK8 convertible. What a Dream Come True.
I fell Instantly in Love when I test drove it !!
I am having a few problems after a few months and learning from the 3600 page Service manual. Sigh .... When my Mom
heard I was studying she said " Are you Sure you should have bought the Jag ? " I told her I will Never drive Anything else again !!
What a Cream Puff !! It's so smooth & responsive. When some wacko is driving weird I hit the "S" button & I'm GONE !!
I am blown away at how many of you are so intelligent. I'm an old school mechanic and this is wiping the dust off brain cells I didn't know I had.
Thank You in advance to all of the kind people that spend their time to help those of us learning the ropes. This is the newest car I've ever owned.
I hated the computer in my 87 Chevy Suburban so much I went to an HEI distributor & a carburetor because of all the cheap sensor failures.
Now I take on this Fine Work of Art to Try to catch up with the times.
See Ya All Around ....

Welcome. You'll learn to appreciate the electronics in time. I too started learning to bend carburetor linkages to make adjustments. But I love modern fuel injection now. All you gotta do is follow the instructions in that big book to put everything together right and it tunes itself. Now that '97 does have some achilles heels you'll want to address right away if they haven't already been done already like the plastic timing chain tensioners, plastic water pump impeller, plastic crossover pipe, octopus hose, valley hoses and the main pressure valve in the transmission. Follow the preventative maintenance advice given on this forum and you should have a thoroughly enjoyable car for years to come.

Thank you for your warm welcome & sharing your wisdom. Nothing like experience huh ? Hopefully, with 154,000 on her she had the tensioners done a ways back. There were no service records, handbook or other info with it so I'm having to wing it to see where she needs attention.

Default How to confirm my 1st post was received & posted. Help.

I posted my first post on May 9th & don't see it anywhere for problems with no spark on my 97 XK8.
Also replacing brake switch & Solenoid didn't release the Park Lock. How do I contact a moderator
to find out if my post has been posted ? I'm studying the service manual PDF but I have
a feeling you guys will recognize the symptoms. Also need to find the plug to test Crank, Cam & Coolant Temp Sensors.
Please help.
