Default Intro. - new to site

Hello everyone! Greetings from Florida. I have a XJ8 2001 that was left by my father. I purchased this beauty for him 10 years ago because first he lived Jags and the second... well , I wanted a XKR but my fathers wishes had to be granted.
my XJ has not been used for a while and went to start it and nothing. I’m in the process of getting a new OBDII scanner and as soon as I get the trouble codes, I will be back to ask some questions. I have to do all the work myself as there are no jaguar mechanics (reputable) in this area.
my best to all!!
steven

Welcome to the forum Steven,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. Purchased the Jaguar for your father - the phrase "one in a million" doesn't do that justice.

Follow this link
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link

Enjoy the forums.

Thanks to all the welcoming words. I greatly appreciate it.. and now I don’t know where to pst this but after several tries the battery dies, my xj did not start. Noticed three things, first the throttle body did not open when giving gas, second I normally hear the fuel pump and did not hear it then last the code from the obdii was the one and only restricted performance.
just as a note, when I placed the battery charger to jump start I noticed a little of smoke coming from one of the following, battery, charger or fuse box.
went to sleep st 3am.
Just for starters if any of you have any ideas on what to do first, please let me know.
thanks again!!
cheers
steven
