Default Jag XK 2006 hood failure

Hi,
Recently had a battery change in my Jag convertible.
Then the hood wouldn't work.
A couple of garages looked at it, and one's telling me the motor/pump is overheating.
Can I get it fixed or do i need a new one?
Any advice, greatly appreciated.
Nicola

Welcome to the forums Nicola,

That does seem a remarkable and therefore suspicious co-incidence.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk-xkr-x150-33/ to the X150 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Welcome to the Forums.

I agree with Graham, too coincidental for me also.

Good luck.

Hello, Nicola,
I'm assuming you refer to your Convertible top and not the Engine cover as would be the case for Mercans.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Good Morning,
I am not sure how replacing the battery would cause the motor/pump to overheat, but I would take it to someone that specializes in convertible tops, or to the dealer.
If the pump is over heating, it would have to be replaced.
There could be a short in it, causing an open circuit, and a drain the battery?
