Jaguar S type, parkbrake and gearbox fault! Need help!
I own a 2006 Jaguar SType 2.7 Diesel. It runs absolutely fine, I wake up in the morning and starts first time, get to work park it up and at the end of my day start it up works perfectly again. But, my journey to work is around 20 miles so takes me a good half hour so it gets a good run each time,
but if I’ve been driving for a while and temp is up and I jump out for 2 mins just to go to the shop or whatever for some reason I get back in turn the ignition on and it comes up with the amber exclamation mark symbol and with it alternating between gearbox fault and parkbrake fault. I’ve been told it could be the battery but I just think well if it was then why does it do it sometimes and not do it sometimes. I’ve tried looking across all the forums and no one seems to have the same problem. If I disconnect the battery and leave for a few seconds it tends to resolve the problem but then sometimes it doesn’t, got no idea what’s going off

Welcome to the forums Messwood,
Weird electronic faults on modern Jaguars are often caused by a partially discharged or failing battery so you should eliminate that as a possible cause first. Next, a scantool to check for DTC's rather than guesswork or trial and error.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

From one S-type owner to another... Welcome. The S-type forum is populated with a very friendly group and contains a wealth of knowledge.
If the battery voltage drops lower then 12.2 volts, spurious errors within system modules, most often those reported in your post, can follow. Perhaps you should get your battery load tested to see if it is indeed the culprit?
Given the higher compression of a diesel, the starter draw is significant and even a slightly marginal battery can cause faults.

Just to update, have now been and bought a new battery exactly the same one as before, the problem still occurs
