Default just got my first jag today :)

Hey everyone just wanted to introduce myself my name is Drew I live in richmond, va I just got my first jaguar today it is definitely a project car but hopefully one day it will be good as new. I picked up a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas off craigslist for $100 it has some rust issues, interior is a little ratty and will probably need an engine but i couldn't pass up the opportunity it is such a beautiful car and ive always wanted one this body style. First off I would like to know is there any good websites to buy body repair panels at for my 85 XJ6? I'm glad to finally be a part of the jaguar world

What I thought was the worst of the rust before i took the spare tire out of the trunk lol

$100 bucks for a '85 Jag...can't beat that. Sounds like a project that would be of interest to the Forum, to follow as you progress with the rebuild. Good Luck.

welcome drew, slow and steady wins the race...be patient and just keep knocking out one thing at time, don't let entire project goals overwhelm you.

surprisingly enough, after sitting for 15 years the engine is not locked up!! my dad was able to turn the crank pulley so after the used starter i bought comes in i can toy with the engine and maybe get her up and running!!

well i use car-part.com it searches all the junk yards for parts just put in year, make, model, what part your looking for and what area your in and it will give you a list of junkyards that have the part you looking for and the price it's pretty sweet

welcome aboard drew....looks like a helluva project you got yourself there, which hopefully you'll post up here as and when you proceed...I'm sure it'd be of great interest.
As for parts, try some of our vendors nalleyjaguar and ken@britishparts amongst others on the site who specialise in older Jags....check out the vendor list.
There's alos a listing of many many suppliers in the general tech help section I think...check it out.
But, as the car was so cheap....have you considered trying to get a parts donor car? Maybe a non runer with good bodywork? You could possibly pick one up quite cheap, relatively speaking compared to hunting around for part after part ...might be worthwhile thinkin about
Good luck

ive started removing the bumpers and trim and such to see what rust may have accumulated underneath and most of the bolts are so rusted they just break right off when i try to loosen them i started cutting/grinding away at the rust probably wont be able to afford to repair the areas for a while but i want all the rust gone at least so it wont spread and will start riming everything soon i will take pics and ut them up probably sometime this weekend
