Talking Micklex' ride

I live in Federal Way, Washington and have owned my jag for about 2 years now- a 1987 XJS with black interior and Charcoal gray paint. It's mostly unmodified, stock rims and tires, just had the transmission rebuilt. Engine runs quite well with usual minor complaints about idle and such which is probably due to the air conditioning for the most part. The previous owner, or rather her father, not the original owner but close, had made some interesting modifications to the electrical, adding a switch for the electric radiator fan(the harness is partly missing for the cooling system), a switch to turn off/on the heating/cooling fans for the interior, a trunk switch for the lights, and one additional switch for the fuel pump( I had to have it towed home one day when that one was triggered, his daughter didn't know what any of the switches did). Aside from needing to correct or at least make more functional the engine cooling system, the only thing that doesn't work is the speed control- haven't determined where the fault or faults are yet. That's pretty much it for now- I also have a 1990 convertible, but it isn't in working condition and may end up being just a parts car unless I can drum up more time and funds.

Good having you on board.

A sorted-out XJS is a real treat to drive. Well worth the effort.

Cheers

Welcome to the forums Micklex,

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xjs-x27-32/ to the XJS forum for help, advice and information. You'll see I've moved your transmission post there from General Tech Help and left a re-direct.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

I'm an Englishman 3000 miles away but guessing "Federal Way" has to be DC and not WA. If I'm right, you can also use the US Mid Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-mid-atlantic-65/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Actually, it is Washington State, not DC, they called this city Federal Way because it had Military Road going through the parameter of it. It's a city that grew because it's smack dab in the middle of 2 then industrial cities, Seattle and Tacoma.
