Smile My First XKR

Well,
I bought a 2000 XKR Convertible, Pacific Blue, always wanted one and now they are cheap enough for humble chap like me to afford.

It's had a prang at the front previously, so it has a new bumper & wing.

Been fixed by previous owner but not fully it would appear. Grr! Bodywork great but all that stuff in the front needs sorting properly. Air bag sensors are no longer connected and missing? Why I don't know.

The water bottle leaks and the washers don't squirt on the screen or lights. So looks like I need to remove the front bumper and refit all properly.

There's loads of other little irritating issues too, like tatty exterior trim and a slight rumble in the super charger bearing we think, but its an old car I guess, nothing major, runs smooth and true.

Worst is probably the welding required underneath the front foot well. Luckily my mate is a full blown mechanic and likes Jags as much as me, so is willing to help me out.

Nice bloke Trevor at Penge Jags helped me out with a load of bits today. Thanks matey, will defo be back for more bits as and when.

However, I still need a load of those fixing screws or plugs for the front & rear inner arches as they are loose as a lot of the fixings are missing.

Does anyone know where you buy them from without being ripped off?

Cheers Pete

Thanks for the kind words, but I will be a pain with loads of questions as I am determined to re-name this 'Problem Child' eventually. I will look up and see what's gone before or I may just bore you all with the same questions.

Hi Pete
Welcome from me too. I am also a new Jaguar owner 2004 XK8, I was looking to have a ride over to Penge Jags and have a rummage and see if I can make use of anything they may have.
Good Luck with the work
Peter

Trevor is the fella, he's a nice enough bloke and fairly helpful, but whatever you want, describe it correctly or he will get the hump lol. Call him first and make a rough appointment. It pays to send an email list also, but then call him and remind him before you set off so he can get it ready as he gets busy. Generally he can't deal with you on a Monday. He has plenty of bits at reasonable prices, but be careful you can get carried away buying stuff and he won't take returns if you get it wrong like I did. I have a good few issues with my motor and no time to fix them currently so this is going to be a long term project. I will be making a good few trips back no doubt.
