Need help with failed electrical module
New member from New England (Connecticut). Vehicle is a 2016 XJL 30,000 miles. Purchase the vehicle 3 years ago. Recently half the functions on the dash module "greyed out" and lost the use of heat, AC, speed & tach and perhaps more I'm not aware of. Vehicle appeared to function normal in other respects. The following day with a fresh start, all had returned to normal. Only lasted about 2 hours when module functions went dark again. Vehicle left with dealer (3 weekls ) Dealer ultimately advised that gauge module needs replacing and computer update cannot be accomplished. Vehicle was returned to me unprepared as dealer advised they are unable to locate the necessary module as it is "Backordered". I'm looking for any advise or direction. I am essentially a non technical person so I'm floundering here looking for solutions. Thanking you in advance for any assistance
Welcome to the forums Wilyum,
(I've deleted your duplicate of this thread)
Dealers love throwing expensive parts at a vehicle. With most electronic issues there's a list of test actions and the last in the list is usually 'replace the xxx module'. Troubleshooting should start with a diagnostics session which will return some error codes to indicate what is wrong and a logical process of how to fix it. JLR dealers are geared up to sell new vehicles and service recent models. Anything beyond that is generally unfamiliar territory to their 'technicians'. You describe yourself as 'non technical' so your best course of action is to find a nearby respected and knowledgeable independent Jaguar specialist.

Hello, Wilyum,
I'm sorry you're having such trouble with your Jag. As Graham (GGG) says though, dealers are in the business of making DEALS to Sell cars, not repairing them, certainly not one that's over 5 years old. I'm convinced that on the dot every 3 years they Delete all the older tech and repair information just to not tempt Staff to even try to repair an older vehicle than that.
That's why these forums exist; to fill that Gaping hole in the Repair Industry, and help owners like you and me fix our own stuff.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
