Default New 2002 XKR Owner in LV...

Through some luck and misfortune I picked up a 2002 white/tan convertible XKR yesterday with 86,000 miles.

I always wanted a Jag, but I was more into the coupes from the 90s, not the convertibles. But now I am the somewhat proud owner of a 2002 convertible.

The car is relatively in decent condition. I need to have mechanic go over the car to see how she sits. The exterior paint is good. The convertible roof is fine. It just got some new tires but the original rims are dinged and scratched up.

The interior though, both front seats new covers. The arm rest on the center console is shot. Even the arm rests in door panels probably need to be recovered.

It needs new mats and probably new carpet. Luckily the dash is fine.

So I have a small project car. Which I am looking forward to working on and restoring to its original glory.

I will post some photos later today...

Welcome.

Good project car, and with Summer coming in Vegas, good time to sort it.

Congratulations on your 'new' convertible!
LV seems like it would be a Very convertible friendly place.

Welcome to the forum LVJagXKR,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

I did.

Changing the main carpet is a major piece of work as it's in one piece and the seats, centre console and sill trims must be removed. It looks OK from the photos ......

Since Im going to have the front seats removed and covers replaced, Id figure I would do it all at once. Someone here on the boards had a car with the beige leather seats but dark brown carpeting and I really liked that look. Dark brown wont show the dirt as much as light tan.

Perhaps I can just remove the original carpet and have it professionally dyed if I cannot find a replacement carpet.
