Hello everybody,
I've been a member in this forum for a long time, but as I have sold my XJ40 a couple of years ago I wasn't active any more. But now, 5 months ago, I again fell in love with a Jag again and bought a 1999 X308 with 140.000km from a dealer here in Germany, Denis Gath. He has about 100 Jags in stock, you choose one and after about 6 weeks you get the car fully remanufactured: New heaven, new timing chain, new tires, new metal thermostate housing etc. etc.
Nevertheless I had some issues: Trunk lights still don't work although I changed the cables in the trunk, one ignition coil failed on my way home from the dealer, which he immediatedly replaced.
I like the smooth ride of the car very much and it's a perfect contrast to my other car, a 1969 Citroen 2CV ! Some weeks ago I fitted a return camera which works fine.
I've been working on vintage cars for many years (Volvo PV 444, Mercedes SL R107, Fiat Eurospider, Fiat 500, Jeep Cherokee), but the Jags are the most complex cars I've ever owned ! So maybe in the future I'll have technical questions and I appreciate the knowledge in this forum very much!
Your X308 has either had an exceptionally careful owner or one who spent a lot of money refurbishing the interior.
I'm sure you've already found your way to the X308 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.
