Default New to the forums!

I am Lothar863. I live in southern Middle TN anbd this is my second X308 XJ.

I helped a buddy with his 1999 XJ8 VP with timing chains and some other things.

I rescued a 2001 XJ Sport in white from getting a SBC swap. Only issue that was causing running isssues was the guy had put the cheapest copper plugs in it causing misfires under accel.

I bought that for $500 and did some rehab on it and then sold it to the friend with the VP for $750.

I am back this time with another resuce. I came across a 2000 XJR in Black that was in danger of being scraped by a shop. It was running but performance limited mode and then it stopped and they could not figure out the issue.
I picked it up for $500 after taking a quick look at it.

First issue was a p1260
This was fixed by cleaning the goop and corrosion off the key fob board and using dexoit on the anttena connection for the immobbilizer.

Now it is giving no codes but is not starting.
It does not fire off with starting fluid and has no fuel pressure at the rail.
I looked at the fuel pressure issue first
Fuel pump relays are good and fuses are good. Reseated them to make sure they had a good connection.

Using a jumper wire for the relays i powered the pumps one at a time from the trunk fuse box and did not hear them running.

Multimeter to the connection on top of the tank shows 1 pump is open circuit and the other has continuity.
I think this was the source of their limited performance mode. The pump with a complete circuit was pulsed from a 20v dewalt battery to try to get it to move but no luck.

I have 2 pumps on the way. I am debating on opening an access hole in the rear parcel shelf or trying to get under the car and disconnecting the fuel lines to remove the the tank but I am not sure which method I will go for yet. If I do cut a hole I want to cut a clean hole and then make a blanking panel I can rivet or rivnut in place with some sound mat or heavy foam to seal the space off.

I need to pull the coils and see if they are getting 12v and check the intertia switch to see why it is not trying to fire with starting fluid.

Welcome to the forums Lothar863,

This sounds like you still have a security input issue rather than a fuel pump.

Hello, Lothar,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar(s)!
One of the surest symptoms of Jaguar Fever is when you start rescuing them from the wrecking yard. But it sounds like you have a real knack for getting them back on their feet. Good Job!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Not just jag's

I hate seeing cars with a lot of life left in them being scrapped due to shops not wanting to work on them and dealers beening too expensive.

Some of my other rescues are:
a number of 90's merccs with bad conductor plates
A 2006 SLK350 with 117K and a bad ecu
my 89 crew cab square body
and my 1992 S10 Blazer Tahoe
