Default New guy in Md

Evening everyone,
This might be a premature introduction, because I don't own A Jag yet. I'm looking @ a 98 XK8 with 225,000 miles.

A bit about me I'm an aircraft mech/machinist turned Project Manager for a large aerospace firm. I used to own and operate a hi performance Machine shop in the Lothian area of Md. It did real well but i didn't have time to dedicate to the business since I was also working a full time job. Hobby turned professional kinda takes the fun outta the hobby.

At the moment I'm in the middle of a home renovation to include milling and installing my own hardwood floors as well as building new kitchen cabinets and so on. Wood working is new hobby to me as of about 18 months ago. Heck I couldn't even spell wood before then LOL

I'm going to go look @ the prospective car tomorrow. Who know just might be the one.

Welcome to the forum otis.

That has to be one of the highest mileage XK8s I've seen around here.

I hope things work out.

I'm hoping the paper work will include a replacement engine that has the type three timing components and a few hints of transmission servicing. The other things are small cogs on a much smaller gear and will/shouldn't be a show stopper. Busy, yeah just a bit. LOL

Welcome ooootis to the forum.

Good luck today in aquiring your new Jaguar.

I am a bit of a wood "chuck" as well. I do all our cabinets, I did our real hardwood floors and I also am thinking about puttsing around with wooden toys...

Enjoy all the site has to offer!

ooootis, welcome to the forums. I'm sure we can help you out. What part of SOMD? Great Mills here. If you ever need any help, let me know. I have a fair amount of tools, the service manual for your year car and a willingness to get greasy.

I've been doing the daily commute to Pax since 84 and most of it has been from the North Beach area where I am now. I'll take ya up on your offer for help. I am planning to do a detailed inspection of the car this Saturday, attention to detail doesn't beat experience. I'd more than welcome your help if you have the time.

Dave
