Default New to Jags, taking on a beat up 2000 XK8

Hello All,
My wife has been wanting to add a convertible to our growing vehicle collection, so we decided to save and bring back to full service a 2000 Jaguar XK8. We went to the Mecum Auto Auction in Kansas City, MO (USA) and bid on one and drove it home an hour later. We are pretty excited, as it runs great and the outside is good, too. However, I have no experience with maintenance on a convertible (we are having challenges with it), so now I begin lessons - Grasshopper. Well, we have already started fixing some of the neglect...this will be a fun project car, one we plan on keeping!

Welcome to the forum Greg,

Congratulations on the XK8. You'll find all the help you need here to fix any issues.

Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You may also like to visit the US Mid West Region section by following this link Mid West US - IL IN IA MI MN MO OH WI - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

I see you've already entered the Prize Draw for the Convertible Top Remote Module - good luck.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

It surely will be truly appreciated when it is back in shape. Be patient, it will test you more than once on the way.

Thanks all!
I've been exploring the website and I'm finding loads of great information and happy to see other Jag owners in the Kansas City area.
I've tried many local small businesses to help me out with the convertible deployment problem, but to no avail. So, I've made an appointment to drop off our car to the local Jaguar dealer: Aristocrat Motors, here in Kansas City, KS. It will be expensive, but worth it, as it is the beginning of the restore...we are pretty excited.
Thanks Jim, for the upgrade, truly appreciate it. I see you are in Scotland; I'm a decendent of the Barclay Clan of Scotland.

Good stuff KC.....keep us updated as to how you get on.

A descendant of the Barclays eh? You are of course entitled to wear the kilt then as you have your own tartan.

Let me know when you come over to Scotland and I'll get the potato scones, haggis tattis n neeps, black pudding and Irn Bru ready....lol

All the best KC
