Recently bought my wife her life long dream car. 2002 Jaguar S Type. The 2002 S Type hasn't necessarily been the one but she has always wanted a Jag. 86k miles and we have had several issues already. Luckly we only pais $3700 for it. We put new catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, new air conditioning sys, and new tires on it. Still have issues with the boot switch and radio searching channels on its own. The car is great other than that. Drives really smooth. A few weeks ago the son in law was driving it and hit the back of a pick up. Messed up the hood, grill, bumper, passenger headlight. Its been fixed thankfully. Wondering if the car is cursed. So now we have about 8K into the car. Love it so far.

Welcome.

Nice looking Jag.

The S Type Tech section have answers for that radio mind of its own, and I seem to remember something with the steering wheel controls via the clockspring that is the root cause.

Hello,
Congratulations (to your wife) on your new S-type.

I'm sorry to read about it being bashed by your SIL. I would be Seriously cautions about letting him drive my car ever again; but maybe that's just me.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thanks for the welcome. I fixed the battery discharge overnight problem by removing the trunk lights because something is wrong in the boot switch harness. I have been reading some threads on that subject so i think i might have a handle on it. As far as the radio the only was i can get it to stay on one channel for any length of time is with the steering wheel controls. We are trying to find a new radio but its harder to find one with the wood. Most are black and I picked up one in central florida but the wife is picky about how it looks. About the son in law driving the car.....at least the granddaughters weren't in the car with him. My wife and I were both aircraft mechanics for the Air Force. Both retired her 30 years and me for 20. I think she will love this site and be doing all the reasearch for me to fix her car. She does out rank me in more ways than one. Lol. Thanks again.

Tim and Julie
