Lightbulb New Member - 1987 XJSC v12

Hello all, I am Patrick and have been reading posts in curiosity for about a year. I started working on my Jaguar over the summer and have a lot to learn. I look forward to reading and learning from clearly some very bright people on this forum. I'm starting off with a problem I have been chasing down for about 2 months. My engine when I am decelerating below 2k RPM surges until I reach 1k RPM. I have checked as much of the vacuum system as possible, measured the air flow between both butterfly intakes. I possibly suspect the auxiliary air valve after some of the reading I've done. I've also thought about replacing the distributor/rotor/spark plugs/wires. The car has been well taken care of however my resident expert was my father. Anyhow, if anyone has any idea's I would greatly appreciate any advise you may have. Thanks again in advance for the great people who contribute to those, like me, who are NOT a mechanic nor have a lot of experience working on these beautiful cars. R/S Patrick
