Hello, I'm tom hannah from caerphilly, introducing myself and my late 2008 X type 2.2 diesel, It seems to have been fairly well looked after and is showing 66,000 miles, it's an SE auto in black with the usual ivory leather interior. I usually carry out all my own maintenance and servicing so will be hoping to pick up some useful tips from other forum members and maybe adding a few of my own in time. I have no pictures of the X type yet as it's a new purchase.

My other passion is a 1960 renault dauphine which I've had for 19 years, although it's only been back on the road for 3 years, it is currently stripped for a respray.

I did briefly own a 1972 XJ6 4.2 auto almost 40 years ago too but it had an awful drinking problem and had to go.

Welcome to the forums Tom,

Good to have you with us.

My 1972 XJ6 did around 15mpg but at least £5 would get you further than the next petrol station in those days!

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thank you all, your welcome is much appreciated. Today a missing front bumper reflector arrived and the car now looks as it should. I'm still discovering the odd little foible that I haven't had before and so far all seems really good. I'm looking forward to perusing the x type forum soon. The only thing I know isn't working at the moment is the sat nav (no disc or discs). Mine is very late 2008 and a facelifted car.
