Hi,

Just acquired my dream car last fall (3 weeks before I had to store if for the winter :/ )

1999 Jaguar XK8 coupe, silver (well.. that's probably not the official name of the colour, but you get the point).

I can't stop staring at photos of it, even though they don't do the curves justice

Looking forward to the spring, and the knowledge here.

It's obvious to me that you didn't "store" your car in your own garage, but at some other location. Otherwise you would be out there talking softly to it and admiring its curves in person and not merely pictures.

I grew up in Montana, so I understand your situation. But I came to California as soon as I could figure out how.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

hahahaha LnrB............. I'm from the Montana of Canada - I too am trying to figure out how to escape into Cali!!!! it was -35 Celsius here last weekend.

Yes, the one benefit of this desolate place is space... so fortunately I can store it at my family's farm, indoors. I wouldn't have got it if I hadn't had that option.

Yes, kitties don't like the cold.

When I was a kid, in winter all the farm cats rolled up in a fur ball near the dryer vent. When it got below zero F some of them got the hair on their feet frozen to the concrete and couldn't move. It usually only took one time ripping them loose and leaving a Lot of hair behind and that individual never did it again. It sounds cruel but there was no other way.

Yup, if there's still a school of hard knocks in the 1st world, it's on a farm in the prairies..

How did you escape MT?

I came with my family as a child to visit extended family and distant relatives (all of whom are dead), and returned during my misspent youth to spend a summer here. At that time I realized I was always a California girl, I was merely born in the wrong place. It seemed like a good idea to stay so here I am.

I visit my family in Montana once a year in January just to remind myself why I left.

Welcome to the forum emaychbe,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Canada Region forum by following this link Canada - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.
