Hi everyone and thanks for the forum - looks lke a useful one !!
I had an S type for a few years and liked it, but bought an XKR new in 2009 - bit like riding my bikes but with four wheels and better brakes ! Generally find it a grat car, but the odd electrical fault does drive me nuts - never anything too serious, but things stop working for no apparant reason. At the moment it is the satnav. Last year it was a faulty "earth node" which the dealer told me meant taking off most of the body panels to replace. No idea if that was BS or not but cost me £400 to have it fixed. Even so, still love it to bits - best road car I have ever had - I have a few off-road things for the off-road stuff

Default Satnav problem solved

Thought I would update you on my satnav problems 2009 XKR. For some time it would randomly stop working/screen go blank/cancel guidance and so on. I bought a new disc off Ebay - still the same. I bought a lens cleaner for the DVD unit - still no result. Eventually I enlisted the assistance of an audio engineer (does video units, DVD playrs TVs etc). The problem was the motor that drives the disc in the DVD unit. It simply didn't spin the disc as fast as it should, so the unit had problems reading any disc. New DVD reader was a ridiculous price. He took it out and replaced the motor - not expensive and it now works fine. If you have a similar problem it is worth doing this. The thing to remember though is to disconnect the battery for about ten minutes before removing the DVD reader so that all capacitirs discharge. We forgot to do this the second time we took it out and had no problems in fact, but he did warn that it is best to do that.

Hope this is helpful for anyone who has the same problem. Don't buy a new DVD reader !!
