Smile New Member, First-Time Jag Owner - 1989 XJ40

Hey, guys,

Happy I stumbled upon your forum, it's already been a huge help! I'm Tom, and I'm the proud new owner of a (relatively) solid XJ6 from 1989! A two-owner vehicle in the same family since 1993, I was surprised to find this relic in such awesome shape considering it was an elderly man's daily driver till he passed away a few months back. Dark green with a cream leather interior in near-mint condition - still needs some love and TLC, but it's not bad for a start! Currently working on getting the vehicle to pass inspection (parking brake, power steering line, subframe mounts, etc etc) and after that I'll be converting the suspension from self-levelling hydraulic to conventional gas strut & spring. Watch out for threads from me in the coming days as I blunder through this - I'll like as not have a ton of questions for the mechanical experts among you.

Let me know your thoughts on the colour combination, and general condition of this old-timer - I'm looking forward to getting her properly fixed up and on the road in time for summer!

Welcome to the forums Tom,

The seats are in remarkable condition - possibly been recovered? I had a Series One XJ12 in that body colour in the 70's and it had green leather seats which was the usual pairing.

I can see you've already found your way to the XJ40 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the Canada Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/canada-73/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
