Hello all!

Name is Roger from Arizona.
New member but this forum has definitely aided me immensely as a guest!

It helped me diagnose the misfire condition on my 2001 XK8 Convertible (37,000 miles) to the leaking camshaft cover gaskets. I had oil in the spark plug wells on the rearmost cylinder on the passenger side and the two rearmost wells on the left side.
Replaced the camshaft gaskets (aren't those bottom rearmost and third from rear 10mm bolts a bitch? I used a short 10mm 1/4" drive socket, swivel connection and set of 1/4 inch drive "wobble" extensions from Harbor Freight, and many cuss words!). Oh and I slit the Oil dipstick tube bracket with a thin diamond tip bit on a Dremel-like tool from HF.
I checked the secondary chain tensioners, Yep! I have the old plastic ones but they appear uncracked so I opted to leave owing to the low miles and uncertainty whether my gasket replacement would work first time.

Love my Jag but it's a labor! You will be seeing more of me!

Welcome to the forum Roger,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Southwest Region forum by following this link US Southwest - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
