Default New Member Intro

Hello,
I recently purchased a 2000 XKR convertible and found this forum while looking for suggestions on routine maintenance. The car is in very good condition, with 82K miles, and I'm hoping to keep it that way. I recently sold my Jaguar Mark IX and thought it would be my last "toy" car, but when I saw the XKR, I just couldn't resist.
I was thinking the garage space formerly occupied by the Mark IX would be turned into the woodworking shop I wanted. But now it looks like that project will have to wait a little longer.
I've always been interested in sports cars, my first being a red 1957 MGA that I bought in 1961. Since then it's hard to remember a time when there hasn't been some kind of fun car in my life.
This year my wife and I celebrate 50 years of happy marriage. We have three kids and six grandchildren. I retired in 2002 after a career in electronics.
I look forward to being a part of this forum. I'm not sure what I can add to it, but I know that I will certainly benefit from my membership in it.

Vince

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

That's an excellent selection of previously owned cars. I'm sure the XKR will be a good replacement fun car.

Follow this link XK8 / XKR ( X100 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Default Thanks!

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome. I think I'm really going to like it here.

A quick word about one of my previously owned cars, the '65 Alfa. It's what I was driving when I first met my wife. She's never told me how much that car influenced her decision to marry me, and I'm not sure that I want to know.

But I do ask myself, "Suppose I was driving a Jag instead?"...

Vince,

When I met my future wife, she was dating a man who drove a Jaguar MkII. She dumped him for me - a student who didn't even have a car.

We've been married 37 years and I've never asked what prompted her decision. Some questions are definitely best left unasked!
