Default New member looking to buy a jag ... maybe

Hi,
New member here. I'm looking for a new convertible and leaning heavily towards a 97-06 XK8.

I'm considering a few others, most notably a masarati Spyder or Mercedes SL600 but the Jag is what I am leaning towards. It is the best looking car of the three (and to be honest one of the best of all time) and has an interior roughly equal to the Merc and far superior to the Masarati.

I wrench on my own cars extensively, I have a masters degree in engineering and fully believe I can tackle any repair provided I have the right tools, a procedure and a friend or two.

That said I don't know much about Jags. I have limited experience with a relative's E-type when I was a kid but that is it . This will not only be my first European car it will be my first foreign car.

Welcome, the Xk8/XKR is a beautiful car and a joy to drive. Do your homework, know what you are getting into and do the preventive maintenance. A little time with the spanners and she will give you years of pleasure.
