Hello everybody!

I just wanted to say hi, I picked up a new to me, 2009 Jaguar XF (X250). I picked it up at an auction for a steal, so I'm very excited about it. Here;s my story: about 15 years ago, my former boss had a XJR and an XKR, and since then, I've always remembered the feel of driving those cars. They weren't the fastest things in the world (we were a race team, so we had a very skewed sense of "fast"), nor were they the best handling, but they were among the most memorable vehicles I've experienced. Between the smell of the leather, and the very relaxed feel of everything, the whole experience was the antithesis of a racecar, which is where I worked. Years later, cars have gotten faster, bigger, sportier, more luxurious, etc, but I still remember the very distinct smell of the seats and the relaxed feel. Browsing used cars online, one was coming up for auction. I've never bought a car at auction, so I went to check it out, and here we are. The proud owner of a lightly used, low mileage XF!

I have already replaced a few things on it, and I look forward to whatever breaks next. The one thing I appreciate about these cars, is that they are over engineered. They either work or they don't, there doesn't seem to be a huge gray area of "worn", it's either good or not. I replaced the dash, and all fasteners are setup in such a way that they can come off and go back on, and be tight as a drum. Other cars I've worked on are like Ikea furniture - It's fine when it's assembled, but if you need to take it apart, thats it, throw it out.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi.

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
Yes, it's the SMELL that gets most of us. Nearly every other car on the road smells like Plastic,
I look forward to whatever breaks next.
This car Does have you in its grip, doesn't it! Most new owners are Willing to deal with whatever breaks next, but few actually look forward to it.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
