Default New Member New XJ6 X300 Owner

Hello all,
Introducing myself, real name Don and reside in far northern Michigan USA (tip of your hand area, instant map).
I am a USN veteran and current New owner of a 1996 XJ6 x300.
I've owned many many muscle cars over the years. The xj6 has always been a dream car for me. I finally at 54yrs found one reasonably priced or was it.
I appreciate ALL the posts on this forum a wealth of information. Although hijacking another's post has been done and that's just wrong. For us New people it forces us to post a same issue because honestly I don't want to read two trouble issues and try to follow answers to two problems on one post.
So far owning this particular xj6, I'm not impressed. Jags lose 30 percent value driving of the lot, and then compound common problems, frustrating part is the ridiculous top dollar prices for parts as if these cars are new still.
Ive own 924 and 944 porches and prices for these much quicker cars weren't that expensive. The best part of those cars was VW parts were used. For dreaming to own a xj6 for so long sadly I'm not impressed YET. Probably because I have found so many issues on mine and feel pretty overwhelmed and taken advantage of by the seller. Hopefully time will change my view.
I am now off to post new problem thread (long list)

I myself do enjoy the posts, so THANK YOU ALL for the knowledge and experience sharing.

Welcome to the forums Don,

Good to have you with us.

I can see you've already found your way to the X300 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thank you GGG,
I've been stalking your threads for a month now haha. This place is a true wealth of information and knowledge. Even Google pulls this site up on their 1st page and usually on top. Just about every issue is addressed on here already many with those links.
Thank you again.

Hello, Don,
Congratulations on realizing your life-long dream of owing a Jag.
I'm sorry that realization has been such a disappointment. It's gotta be a Bummer every time you even Look at that car. Poor car.

Almost ALL new cars lose a Huge portion of their "value" when driven off the lot. Only exceptions, if you can call them that, are Toyota and the like, and other soulless 4-wheeled conveyances, that you can't tell which one is yours until it answers your fob. You'll Always know which car is yours if you drive a Jag. But Only if it's not your heart's desire to blend in with the crowd.

Parts are far more reasonably priced if you know where to buy them. Members of the X-300 section will be glad to share their sources with you (try buying a tail light assembly for a Ford F-150 if you think Jag parts are overpriced)

Jags were never intended to compete head to head with the likes of BMW, they're in a class of their own. I do hope you come to appreciate that before you give up on your new Jag and ditch it; which quite frankly, sounds like where you're already headed....

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
