I guess I'm to introduce myself - I'm a retired Educator (Principal) formally a History and Sociology teacher football and basketball coach in Oregon. I love our state, it's beautiful and very scenic - I grew up in Eastern Oregon in a family dedicated to cattle - my father was wise as he became a very successful Real estate Broker and lived in the Clarkston Washington area and Enterprise Oregon area. I've always loved the Jaguar - way back in the 70's I had a good friend that had one. Never could afford them then, too poor, but today I can certainly buy a used one. Buying any used car is scary to me - and given little of what I know about a Jag is even more scary. I'm not a mechanic - nor will be one. So If I do buy one - I'm hoping for the model that will cause least issues (year too). I realize that is with any car, I own a Toyota Truck and a Lexus car - and I've owned a bad Lexus along the way - so it's not uncommon to get a lemon. But now at 70 years old, I'd like to drive something I've always wanted - and always loved. So I need some direction, and that's why I'm here - any suggestions or recommendations is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Provenance is absolutely critical. A comprehensive service history preferably backed up with a thick file of receipts. Few owners in the US or Canada drive sufficient miles to have their Jaguars serviced on a mileage basis; most should therefore have been serviced on a time basis and this means every twelve months. Any gaps need to be explained.
As you have been looking at our X150 forum, you will be pleased to know this model has few body problems. All-aluminium construction means the bodies are free from corrosion issues. The 5.0 litre benefits from development improvements but the original 4.2 is mechanically the more reliable. We have many owners who are supercharger fanatics and dismiss the normally aspirated engines but the latter is less stressed and therefore less of a potential problem. The convertible is a superb design but I've always had coupes only because the English weather makes 'top down' a rare opportunity.
Learn all you can about your preferred model. An apparently minor electrical function failure can sometimes be surprisingly costly to repair so it's important to be able to check everything on a potential purchase or have the vehicle backed by a comprehensive warranty.
Chosen wisely, any Jaguar model is far more than transportation - every journey is an experience.
