Thumbs up New Member with S-Type R

Hello Forum!

I am in the process of finalizing my acquisition of a 2006 S-Type R with only 40K miles! The car drives amazingly and is in mint condition. I look forward to performing some additional preventive maintenance including getting new rubber at each corner for safety reasons.

This forum was instrumental in my purchase decision so thank you to all for previous comments and posts that allowed me the courage to take the plunge.

I am a former product development engineer at Ford Motor Company (in Michigan) where I worked on the development of electronic throttle control systems (i.e. drive-by-wire) and the release of the world's first hybrid SUV, the Ford Escape. I also worked at Volvo Cars of North America (at their New Jersey HQ) as Emissions compliance manager and then as marketing Brand Manager for North America. Today, I work in the Aerospace industry in the Hartford CT area. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions on any of these topics.

Look forward to adding the Ipod interface first and foremost!!!

Thanks,
Frank

Welcome to the forum Frank,

Great Intro.

Good to hear the forum has already provided useful information to help with your purchase decision on the S-Type. We can safely assume you don't need a link to the tech section!

Don't forget to post pics when you take delivery.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Hi Frank and welcome!

Does the aerospace company you now work for have an eagle in the corporate logo by any chance?

Wink

Thank you guys for the kind welcome. Last time I was involved in such a forum was when I owned my new 1995 Ford Probe GT, and then many years later around 2000 when I bought a used 1998 BMW M3 Sedan. Must be my pseudo mid life crisis!

-Graham, I will certainly post pics when I get the vehicle!
-Mikey, the "Eagle" is everywhere, so you are absolutely correct!

Two quick question, what is the best plastic headlight polishing kit out there, and who can we order the Ipod interface kit from (i.e. best price for forum members)?

Thanks!
Frank

Frank,

Best to ask those questions on the S-Type section. Especially the iPod issue.

Technology is one of the great challenges to Jaguar owners and many members have had much frustration and not a few failures playing catch-up.

Default Finally, a pic!

The car has been in the garage for the past few months, but as the weather gets better, I am taking it out every now and then.

What I've done:
- Air filter
-cabin filter (I bought a cheap one from Amazon, supposedly carbon, and it stinks like chemicals. I will have to replace it, i dont trust it as it is made in China)
-Polished headlights with 3M
-Performed Brutal's headlight droop fix on the left side and aimed lights.

Next-
-replace front rotors with OEM (really warpped; sever shutter while breaking from high speed)
-Find what pads to use
-change fluids (oil and brake)
-feed the leather and detail
-get fron suspension checked for wear and then buy new tires

Love the car!

Frank

That's better - I can see it properly now.

The JRG colour really shows off the lines well.

Fantastic color! Don't forget to share over at the S-Type section of the forum. You will find many answers to your questions there.

Thanks for the feedback! I will say that the last time I drove a car that turned this many heads was my 1998 M3 Sedan.

This car is great and the power is spot on, yet such a refined vehicle. I will keep it as summer car only, since I hope to have my kids own it some day (of course they are only in preschool and elementary now..long wait!).

Also, I priced out new front caliper anti-rattle clips, since mine have the faded "R" symbol, and those are $50 each!

Finally, the stereo is awful on this car. It is so uninspiring in terms of sonic fidelity. I plan to upgrade the speakers this summer.

See you all on the boards,
Frank

Default Another member for the stable..

Well, I did it again (to my wife's discomfort); I bought a 2003 XJ Sport with only 28K miles. The car is beautiful, and it gives my S-Type R a run for its money in terms of head-turning abilities and the shear pleaseure of just driving it. What an amazing car!

So now the stable is complete!

Best,
Frank

That didn't take long!

Good to see the snow has gone since you posted the pic of the S-Type.

Enjoy it.
