Well... I always wanted to own a quality British car, and last Tuesday I bought a 2000 xjr. First Jaguar, although I've owned many old Austins through the years.
Catriona (I name all my vehicles) is black on black with 125 K kilometres.
I took her for a highway run south to Victoria (about 100 km away) and back and really enjoyed the comfortable ride. A friend in Victoria who has two Jaguars advised me that I shouldn't wear heavy shoes when driving the Jag.... attracts expensive pieces of paper. So, I used cruise control a lot.
Dash showed averaging 12.3 liters per 100 km.
I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!
The advice and comments on the Forum are an interesting and useful learning resource for this newbie. Thanks. Doug.

YES - the French and Spanish authorities like to send me reminders of my trips through their countries.

Hello, Doug,
Congratulations on your First Jaguar!

That engine is just well loosened up and broken in.
And, ya got a BLACK one! My Favorite!

Congratulations! We just picked up our first XJR from Victoria on the 1st of May (not our first Jaguar and not the first Jaguar picked up from Victoria either) and enjoyed the traditional trek over the Malahat and back as part of our acclimatization to each other. She is now about 1,250 km away in Edmonton and delivered 11.0 l/100 km at an average speed of 92 kph (also relying on cruise control a lot!). They are truly marvelous machines. Enjoy.

You certainly picked up a beautiful XJR. I really appreciated the pictures of your "new" Jaguar and the magnificent mountain scenery you drove through. What a wonderful combination of vehicular beauty and scenic nature. Enjoy your ride. Cheers, Doug.
Thanks Doug... we are and I hope you enjoy yours as well. I grew up in Ladysmith - although that was a very long time ago - so I'm pretty familiar with some of the beautiful scenery in your part of the country and look forward to seeing some pictures of your new Jaguar and her new home as well. Cheers, Ken
