Hi--I'm Mel and live in McDowell Va about 50mi west of Staunton.
Last Dec I purchased a 1967 Ser1 roadster with 37k from the original owner.
The car had virtually no rust but the owner had local mechanics start taking it apart.
Just about everything they touched was totally wrong.
Alot of parts were in boxes.
I'm happy to report that the car is now back together and running.
It is now in a local paint shop and being refinished in the original opalescent silver blue.
Then comes the reassembly of the bonnet, doors body components and top.
I'm sure I'll have questions at this point and will look for help here.
Looking forward to hearing from some of you.
Mel Now running well. Body teardown next Top not so good. Nice its not in picture Some chrome pitted from sitting for years in original owners garage in WV All electrical operable. Car looks better in pictures than in person. Think its always that way
Hello, Mel,
Congratulations on acquiring your Classic E-type!
We have people here who would give body parts to own a car like that in that condition.
Congratulations also on all your hard work to reassemble it. Not much is as satisfying as successfully completing a 3D jigsaw puzzle such as this.
If you haven't already found your way there, someone will be along shortly to direct you to our E-type section where you can ask questions and trade stories with other members.
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Hi Mel, and WELCOME! That's a gorgeous E-Type! It should be lots of fun to drive on those crooked mountain roads in Highland County! I'm not far away from you - grew up in the Staunton area (Mint Spring actually) and currently live between Stuarts Draft and Fishersville with a Waynesboro address. Congratulations on a great find!
Hi Dwayne, Thanks for your reply. What model do you have? If your between Stuarts Draft and Fishersville You must be somewhere off of 608.
Since we share the same interests we should get together sometime. Obviously I'm in Staunton quite often.
Mel
Hi Mel, you hit the nail on the head; I live in a sub-division off Augusta Farms Road which is, indeed, off of 608. It's a convenient location for me as I work at Augusta Health. We share the same interests in that I think Jaguars are the most gorgeous cars in the world. The two I have owned (a 2004 X-Type purchased new and a 2011 XJL Supercharged purchased CPO) however, proved to be so mechanically troublesome that I've banished all thoughts of ever owing another with intentions of daily use. I currently own a Cadillac XTS and a Ford F-150 4x4 that have both been solidly reliable and am quite satisfied with them. I also owned a Rolls-Royce Silver Spur for a number of years which, contrary to popular belief, was quite trouble-free and reliable. You just never know!
Have you ever been to the annual British Car Show in Waynesboro? It's in October and is always a blast!
I'm certainly open to getting together sometime when you're going to be on this side of the mountains. I work nights, so can be available during the daytime. Send me a Private Message sometime when you're heading this way.
