Default New Member in Wisconsin - '84 XJS

Hello. I've already started a new post, so sorry for doing this backwards with a late into. I've recently inherited my grandfather's '84 XJS HE. 88K on it, in great shape per my mechanic. I admittedly don't know much about cars, so sure I'll be leaning on the forums for years to come. Initial problems that I've identified: AC doesn't work, I think the compressor is removed or disconnected (probably won't bother to fix b/c cost), dashboard wasn't correctly re-installed after past AC work, so glove box is stuck), smoke from engine (group consensus seems to be something dripping on the cats, will investigate power steering fluid), and something drawing electric when the car is off (it's a hard start after one week). Glad to be part of the group - thanks in advance for everyone's input.

Happy to have you with us.

You may have some challenges ahead but it'll be worth it ...and there's tons of XJS support to be found here. A well-sorted XJS is a fabulous car even by today's standards.

Cheers
DD

Welcome.

Backwards beats not at all.

Welcome to the forum Grandpa'sXJS,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the XJS forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
