Hello everybody,

My name is John and I am a automotive extremist haha I have had a couple of xjs jags but never had them long term (ie 6 months or less) the cars never gave fault but I use to be more fickle with cars.

My experience lays in German or Swedish cars of all shapes and sizes. Had a horrible Audi experience (seriously bad) but have always lusted after a x308/x300 since I was a a little lad. I have read all about the problems these cars have. All my peers think I am a fool haha

As far as my car goes, it is a 2002 Xjr 100. It has 150 k miles, runs very good. Occasionally goes into restricted performance mode. Has good power. Everything works. The car needs a repaint, also needs the uber unobtanium BBS montreals as some rather kind fellow decided the 20inch multi piece BBS wheels were ugly and changed them out with 20 inch lexani wheels.

Buying a car like this that needs paintwork, wheels and had no service Records means it was priced accordingly . my plans are as follows:

-rebuild cooling system , at least water pump, radiator hoses, t-stat, coolant flush

-do valve cover gaskets and inspect tensioners for chain. Change plugs.

-engine code last I checked was for a 02 sensor. Sort out that( 4 sensors?)

-change the trans fluid and filter. Happy to hear this car has a mb trans

-eventually new shocks and complete power flex bushings

-repaint the car with high quality job in original color and find those BBS wheels, fix rust

-change oil with synthetic, change super charger oil

-interior is all there but need some leatherique treatment. Missing on rear passenger dark wood piece

My current plan is to get it solid mechanically and drive it as is until funds allow more work on cosmetics. This is not my daily more of a dormant project that I intend to start working on.

One question for the x308 guys apparently Jaguar put phase 3 tensioners in these cars after august 2001, my car is a Nov 01 build and my engine number as given to me by my local dealer is

MA0110152350

Pictures of car to follow, very excited to be here

Hello, John,
Many of our Peers think we're fools for using out time and money keeping our kitties in good running order. Most of us don't care what our Peers think, we're gonna keep doing it!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. Very happy to be here and have learned quite a bit from the vast and informative knowledge here. Will start a proper project thread in the x308 section, really fancy a series 3 or older xj to go next the xjr but I suppose I should fix the one I got first
