Default New member- XKR leaks like a sieve

Just joined today!
I have a 2005 XKR Coupe (30,000 miles) which I purchased in Tucson and drove back to Oregon. I've got several problems which I'll address in the appropriate forums, but for fun....

Due to an unexpected health issue (so you know I'm not an irresponsible owner) I had to leave her parked in my driveway for a month. This is Oregon, not Tuscon so the rain must have come as a surprise to her because she leaked like a sieve, with a large drip falling regularly from the headliner near the top of the driver-side post. Also leaking from the firewall on both sides.

The inside is now moldy throughout, the driver-side door wont unlock (so I can't open the door) from inside unless I use the remote, the window does the appropriate partial lowering when the handle is pulled but won't go back up after closing the door. Further punishment for leaving her outside: the driver-side seat has moved itself to the fully-forward position (so I can't even get in it) and other than the lumbar pump and head-rest motor, won't move at all.

Still... Just looking at the car in the driveway makes me happy. NO REGRETS. Needless to say, I'll be using the forum a lot.

Let the adventure begin!

Welcome to the forums Gblanston,

Definitely a new battery or at least a battery tender in your near future!

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northwest-64/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello,
I'm sorry your health tanked to the point you couldn't get your new Jaguar in out of the rain.
I'm glad you're better now, and wish you success in all your repairs.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Greetings fellow duck...If you need to share the confusion or co-mizzer8, and, somewhat near the Wvalley, give me a shout. That drvside window may need 'limit switch reset'...? Check the forum. Mould is neutralized using common spray Clorox multi-purpose cleaner. Siblings '01 Saab 9-3 vert sat during Dec/Jan/Feb this wet winter under a grand giant oak canopy-leather was like a Bill Nye science project. Seatbelt reels too, scary. Cured them all...

I detailed mine as well, returned to spotless ivory. Caution: Do not let it drip onto carpet, none! But the leather, go for it. Wait a week, then Lexol treatment (in warm weather best) Wear nitrile gloves.

Sorry to hear about your issues.

Insofar as leaking tops - there is a lot you can do with a rubber seal conditioner. With a bit of elbow grease you can transform leaking seal into almost not leaking seal. I use it on all of my convertibles and it makes a lot of difference on older seals.

Your task now is to remove seats and all carpets and dry the car off before the rust starts to set-in.
