Default New X-Type Owner in Milwaukee

I have FINALLY gotten around to registering after surfing the site since October when I bought aquartz 2005 X-Type 3.0 Sport MANUAL with the carbon fiber/alcantara package with Aruba wheels. I was looking for a manual for like 6 months. I love everything about the car and with the AWD it's almost fun to drive in all the snow we have here....I said almost. Have already got the Borla mufflers on and will be getting some EBC reds on it soon as well.

Will try and motivate myself to get some pictures up at some point, but it's hard to keep the car clean more than 5 minutes with teh winter we are having so far.

Have learned a lot already so far and hope to learn a lot more. Seems like a great bunch on this site and I'll do my best to try and fit in.

Welcome to the forums

I might be wrong but EBC green seems a bit more advanced braking performance

Thanks for the welcome!

The green is what comes standard from Jaguar and then the red is the "next step up"and then the yellow, which sounds like it is more for the track than the street. I learned all that on the site here and from all the posts it seemed like there are a lot of owners that swear by the reds. Whatever is on the car when I bought it seems fine, but the front pads are getting worn and Ifigured I would see what moreexperienced owners were using. As long as it stops at least as good as it does now and has mimimal dust I'll be happy. There is nothing worse than seeing cars drive around with nice wheels that are all black from the cheap pads they have on,

Hey there alfadude....welcome to the site, great to have you with us.
Reds are great pads, I had them on mine for serious stopping power and reduced dust too

Look forward to piocs soon before you get the usual

Thnaks, Jim. I appreciate that.

Yeah....I know about the pictures. I have been surfing this site enough before and since I bought it that I know I would get some heat until I get some pictures up. Was going to take some this weekend, but we had a little thaw and now the car is allfull of salt again. I was so proud too. I had it relatively clean for almost a whole week as it was pretty cold this week without any snow falling. Man, it sucks living here in winter. It's so depressing seeing howfilthy everything gets.

As for some of the members I have read enough on the X-Forum that Ialmost feel I know some of you guys already. Plus, it'salways inspiring knowing there are others who share the same passion for their cars as I do, wheteherit's love, hate, frustration, elation and everything in between. So far all I have experienced is love of my car and I just hope it continues because every time I walk to the garage andstart it upit seems like everything is right with the wold.

I know how you feel alfa...did my car on Saturday, spent a few hours and she was gorgeous for all of like an hour[&:].....totally kills me, but what can you do?
I'm quite happy sepending a few hours and doing a mini valet maybe even a couple of times a week and it pays dividends...the alloys are a prime example. No tough baked on crap sits there long enough to do any damage or eat into the wheel.
The X typers are a great bunch with some real characters too and I'm sure they'll welcome you into the fold.
Passion is the watch word, you hit it right on the button...lol

Have you got any projects planned? Anythin you seen on the site that you fancy doing to improve / modify your ride?

Jim

Jim, probably the biggest thing I would like to get done is to flush the transfer case fluid. With everything I have read I have been kind of spooked. Seems like prudent preventative maintenance. Funny thing, I called yesterday to make an appointment at the dealer to take care of the recent software recall and asked about flushing that even though it's not part of the regular maintenance. The guy said they really haven't seen any issues with that in more recent year cars. Hmmmm. I think I will take it to my regular mechanics and have it done anyway. I'll buy the kit that one member (I can't remember his name right now). Short of that, just some cosmetic stuff like maybe a rear roof spoiler I saw (still weighing if it looks good or not), some carbon fiber B-pillar overlays, an alcantara shift boot and possibly a new front chin spoiler as the one on there must have gotten cracked because that portion is missing. Someone must have cut it out near the outside edges. Looks ok, but not like stock. I have seen that "fix" on a few others. All of that will have to wait until spring.

Dennis, as you know, you are right about the beer and brats around here. It's not a myth. Helps keep us warm in the winter! Where do you live now?
