new XK8 convertible owner
Hi everyone! I won the bidding for a 1999 XK8 in ebay so now I'ma jag owner. My cat was delivered Sunday, but the sellers description was far from as rosy as it sounded:
138,000 miles actual 156,621
new Battery was installed – FALSE DOA, wrong size
major tune up was completed including both 02 sensors. – FALSE Check engine code for O2 sensor
There are no check engine lights on - FALSE – 2 DTCs crank sensor & O2
all electronic accessories, radio and climate controls work in every way shape and form - FALSE Radio DOA, AC inoperable
The interior is in good shape, as the driver’s seat has some very minor abrasions as does the passenger seat, but on a whole no rips or tears and with a good detail and leather treatment the leather will be brought back to its original mint luster. - FALSE – tears in drivers seat back
The body and paint on this car for the most part for a 21 year old car and 138,000 miles is excellent. - FALSE – clearcoat issues front bumper cover and bonnet (hood) RUST on all sides of windshield, MULTIPLE imperfections and damage to the paint and rear bumper not disclosed
The car has no rust anywhere on her and no rust on her undercarriage, but has a very slight push in the passenger quarter panel and a deep scratch and impression in the rear bumper.- FALSE – rust present bubbling around the windshield on all sides
Drive anywhere in the USA! - FALSE reduced power warning, stability control inop
The seller told me his description was factual and he's standing by it, ebay told me there's nothing they can do and that I should file a police report. Small claims MIGHT be worth it but I'm 1200 miles away.
So There's not much I can do here except accept the fact I now have the vehicle, and I have lots of work to do
Saving graces are: it starts nicely and the engine sounds healthy, and the top works properly!
Thanks for reading!

Good to have you with us. Sorry to hear the winning bid turned into a disappointment.
