Hi my name is Jodi I am new to the forum.i have read it a lot looking for issues to resolve i live in willimantic CT i have a 97 xk8 coupe 5he first problems I had with it was it would go into power fail mode then be fine then act up again do it's been sitting then battery died then I'm not getting any gauges working or anything oil has ect message board totally dead as well.then I went to take her for ride thinking it might charge battery and maybe instrument panel would work but the shifter would not go out of park .so I took shifter apart it looks like its missing a bolt I'm not sure or it may he because of sensor.i have not checked fuses yet either.any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated as I have my mechanic coming on Thursdays. Welcome to the Forums.

The battery is past its use by date, and these cars, not only Jaguar, require a GOOD battery or else the strange electrical issues you have are "normal".

The XK8/XKR (X100) Tech Section will have more suggestions.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums Jodi,

Please write in sentences with spaces. A single block of text with no spaces is very hard work to read and many members simply will not bother.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thank you everyone for welcoming me.So we tried charging the battery and checked fuses in trunk and driver side.havent gotten to the fuses under hood yet.also gauges not working or message center.I do have headlight, taillights, and steering wheel tilts all that works fine.i was going to look someone suggested by the fusenox theres a button to reset so I'll look and try that. Then also got suggestion to put in N take for ride about 10 miles then stop restart and see if anything comes back.so me and husband will try that tonight also.hope can read this better as I did run on sentences on last post.any ideas greatly appreciated. Also before this she would go into low power mode and then I'd get her hone go to show my husband and she didnt do it again.so had thought was throttle body issue and now rhis.so am looking to have mechanic fix my cat instead of bringing it to jag dealer thanks again
