Default Newbie Jaguar owner.

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself to the Forum as i've just inherited my late Brothers 2001 X-Type which was his pride and joy. Whilst the Car has been cherished from new, as an old Jag MK 2 and MK10 and S-Type from the 70's owner, although the overall look of the Car externally and internally, i was surprised when i 1st drove it yesterday that it disappointed me as to how it drove, the Engine was fine with plenty of power etc, but it was the ride, as all you UK drivers will be aware of the state of our roads now, the Car's suspension was sadly lacking, or could it be i'm expecting too much after owning a 96 Saab 900ng which has exceptional suspension for a 27 year old Car. Anyway, look forward to interacting with any users in the future, although it might be earlier than i would have liked as when i was driving the Car home yesterday the Engine management light came on, not a good start and doesn't fill me with confidence in the Car.

Hello,
Congratulations on your new X-type Jaguar, although I'm sorry for how you got it.
I'm also sorry the ride is not as expected. Someone will be along shortly to direct you to our X-type section where members will advise you how to fix it.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Serious Jag owner then!! I think i might have discovered why it seems to sense every little hole in the road, just checked the Tyre pressures ( with cheap Chinese pressure Gauge though so not 100% accurate! )and someone has put 30lb pressure in every Tyre, so i'm going to take it to the local Garage to check again on proper Gauge.

According to the 2006 X-Type Owner's Handbook, that is correct "comfort" setting.

Really sorry GGG, my mistake, meant to put 40lb one had 45lb. I think it will ride much better with the right pressure, sorry once again. Cheers Phil.

Hi Elinor, Thanks for the welcome, appreciate it. The XJ looks lovely, love your description of your Subaru as a 'Trucklet' and a road worthy 'wheelbarrow' . Cheers Phil.
