Obligatory Intro Post
Greetings!
I just wandered in off the street using the moniker I've loooong used on other automotive forums (mostly brickboard.com as I'm a longtime Volvo driver). Currently I'm 10 years in on a 2006 Honda Odyssey, an absolutely fabulous yet soul crushing vehicle.
Why am I here? I need something new and interesting in my life... wait, is this a mid-life crisis? Anyway, I do not currently own a Jaguar. I need y'all's help in talking me out of an X305 XJ12 - Shouldn't be hard, right?
My previous Jaguar experience: 20-some odd years ago there was a 1987 series III XJ6 in my life. Purchased for $700, it soon became clear that it was only engaging 3rd gear. Fluid flush and band adjustment later and...it only moved in reverse! Eventually a $250 used transmission was swapped in and it then was, miraculously, a solid driver. What a great car! Not quick, but solid, quiet, refined and seemed to get more stable and planted the faster it went down the highway. Climate control was confounding, but in working on various systems I came to appreciate the engineering that went into the original XJ6.
Cheers,
Will

Hello, Will,
Question is, How badly do you Really want that V-12?
And, How badly do you Really want talked out of it?
These are questions only YOU can answer.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Sorry, can't help you with the XJ12 decision, too many cylinders in one place for me.
