Default Overheat

I have a 2003 X-Type

I'm experiencing overheating. Right now, I put water in the reservoir tank because it runs out in a day or so. Is there a certain type of antifreeze that I should be using?

I've replaced several things like
Radiator
Water Pump
Coolant Cap
Coolant Reservoir
Thermostat
I have some codes that came up. Bank 2 sensor. Cylinder sensors. Misfire

Do any of these codes have anything to do with this overheating?
P0300 Random
P0305
P0306
P1316 Misfire Excessive Emissions Fault
P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2

Welcome to the forums Joker7,

Throwing parts at a Jaguar soon becomes expensive. A cooling system pressure test will help determine if and where coolant is leaking and a compression test will indicate possible head gasket failure.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Mid Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-mid-atlantic-65/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Default Overheat - Test

A coolant test was done and it didn't show any leaks. 2003 X Type Jaguar. Can it be a head Gasket?

Welcome to the Forums.

Graham has shown the link to the X Type Tech Section. That is the way to go.

Tech questions in the Introduction Section (this one) get very few visits.

Good luck.

As you are losing a lot of coolant, it has to be going somewhere. If there's no external loss through pump, radiator, header, pipes or hoses then it can only be going out through the engine. Head gasket is the least catastrophic followed by crack(s) in the head or block.
