Just bought an XJ Portfolio LWB for doing exec travel and chauffeur work. In the back there seems to be three seat belts but only 2 belt buckles? On the V5 it says no of seats inc. driver is 4. But in the back seat area there is room to fit another belt buckle. Can one be added and the V5 be changed to say it will seat 5 inc. driver?

Welcome.

No idea on that.

A quick re-ask in thd XJ (X351) Tech Section will get results.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum FossilBill,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Here is the seat belt diagram from JEPC (Parts catalogue) for the XJ:

If your specification has three rear seatbelts, it should have the buckle (item 6) for the centre one.

Most XJ's have the single rear seat where the centre part provides a less than comfortable place for a third passenger. Premium specification models have two separate rear seats and a centre console with no provision for a third passenger.

I only have an SWB, but there are definitely three belt buckles in the back - One on the drivers side and two next to each other on the passenger side (Mine is RHD, I don't know if these things swap over) There is a little picture on the right hand display on the dash (the "message centre") when the car detects people, and it definitely indicates five people (green people when the seat belt is done up, red when not).

There is some clever mechanical work to ensure that the left hand passenger can only use the correct buckle, ditto middle passenger, as otherwise the little picture would get confused. The left hand passenger buckle is buried in the hole, the centre buckle is more prominent.

Found IT!
All sorted now, thanks everyone for your input. Turns out the middle buckle for the middle seat belt was actually stuffed under the seat bench. Doh! In my defence the bench is fixed down and you really couldn't see the buckle or fit your hand in to feel around for it. However this still doesn't explain why the V5 logbook states I can only have upto 4 people in the car?

Good to hear you resolved the middle belt and buckle situation.

Jaguar specification has the vehicle as a five seater so you should be able to get DVLA to review the V5.
