Default restricted performance. 2000 XJ8

Hi : I am a new member and would like to ask a question. Two or three times over the last few months My year 2000 Jag XJ8 has been giving me the message restricted performance and usually accompanied by engine hunting.I have used upper cylinder lube and various gas treatments and after a while it goes away ,usually day or so later. Today It started again and I happened to check the gas filler area ,it was full of water. Now that I think about it each time I went to put gas treatment in there was always water in that compartment. Now I removed the drain plug and sure enough it was blocked solid. Thats all cleaned now! Question could that be the problem?would just a little water in the gas create the decibed problem . Thanks. Ian

Good to have you with us.
It is possible that you have hit on the fault.
You should get your codes checked to be sure, if you post in the tech section for your model XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum you will get a better response.
If you haven't already done so you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Welcome to the forum.

Hope that it was just that simple solution.

Might take a while for all the water to work its way out though.

Good to see you.

Welcome Ian. The water could be something, but I'd be surprised. Wait and see, I guess.
We do have a Canadian forum, the link is in my signature. Check it out, we've got lots of Ontario members.
