Greetings everyone. I am a fairly decent shade tree mechanic in South Carolina. I worked in a Ford garage back in the late 70's, so I'm pretty good with older cars, but my knowledge of newer technology isn't as strong as I'd like it to be. In fact, it's pretty weak.

I have a 2005 XJ8 with 96,000 miles and it's starting to require a little more attention than just basic maintenance.

Thanks ahead of time to all those who share their knowledge and experiences. I have been on other forums and found them to be very helpful and I know I'll have a good experience here as well.

Hello,
Mechanics knowledgeable of older cars are in demand in most areas I think, especially if they're good at what they do. We already have quite enough mechanics who can't change a spark plug without a computer diagnostic to tell them how.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
