Default From Saskatchewan Canada with the a lovely 5.3 XJ12

Hello All,

Names Dylan and after some time browsing this site it would be silly not to join and become a member of this family.

My Garage consists of One Black JAGUAR - - - - 1987 VANDEN PLAS XJ12 5.3L 166,000KM

Mom bought it in 2002 put a few miles on it and gave it to me in 2004 as a graduation present... kind of cool.

I drove it maybe 3 times and gave it back due to me having zero tolerance for be stranded in an unreliable vehicle. (quite mechanically inclined at the time but not a big fan of wires)

Fast forward to 2014... she's selling the house, needs to get rid of it so she gave it back.

Not having been started in about 5 years and only having a few hundred km over the past decade I spent a few weeks in this wonderful place brushing up on what I know needed to be done...... A few days and $480 later she TURNS OVER like a kitten! (the only thing I skipped was checking the plugs)

I was really hoping it would just fire up..... but part of me knew it wouldn't. (sad face)

So now comes the awesome part of chasing down "why no vroom vroom"

Already familiar with the XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III section, so a few weeks poking around and getting to know a few of you I'll have an order of operations to chase down the starting issue... (i promise not to start new thread with out first exhausting my search capabilities) (wink face maybe???)

Oh My.... Don't even really want to think about the getting it rolling aspect right now.

So that's me in a nut shell. See you in the PlayGround!

Cheers

Dylan

Looks like a really nice Jag. A Ser III V12 is well worth the effort needed to bring it back to life. One of Jaguar's best efforts ever.

Cheers

Welcome to the real world, FINALLY.

Ask away, these are SUPER RELIABLE cars, trust me.

If you get sick of it, a quick call to Doug would see it go to an EXCELLENT home in a heart beat.

Failing that, pack it up, and float it this way, HAHA.

All jokes aside. This will be simple to sort. I have done many, many over the years, and if you are prepared to get the hands grubby, take up drinking, expand the vocabulary, it will be done.

Hi Dylan-

Welcome for a fellow Canadian. We have a rapidly growing number of members from the prairie provinces, we're glad to have you here.

There's a dedicated regional section for Canada (see my sig), please drop by once in a while for news and events.

That's quite a project you're undertaking but it's on a great car that deserves all the attention. Best of luck.

Welcome, Dylan!

That's one of the best graduation presents I've ever heard of. Congratulations!

I agree on reliability, just need to put in a little time.

Actually I just quit drinking a few months ago.... I guess you can say this is what I'm replacing it with. How could you drink and work on a JAG?... you would just be sitting in it and revving the engine all the time, muahahaha.

Just practicing a few features below.

Google

This is a link to my favorite search engine

Also attaching a picture of what the fuel coming out of the tank looked like.

Never mind, wont upload.

Thanks again for the welcome
