Default saving hard for a S Type

Hello Jag-heads.

I currently drive a Vectra but have decided to buy a S Type Jag in a few months.
When I was a little boy in the 1970's( I'm not little anymore). My father drove Jags. I have clear memories of sitting in the back of xj12's.
Now my Brothers own Jags( one XKR The other brother a XJ). Well life's to short and I'm going to treat myself.

My wife is already sick of me talking Jag. But for fathers day she bought me a die cast mounted model of a S Type. And made a savings tin with "Daddy's Jaguar fund" printed on the side! Currently it has £79 so only another £2921 to go till I get a 05 SE.
The reason to join this forum. Is to learn as much as I can and keep the focus.

And if you know someone how wants a black Vectra. . I'm your man.

Thanks for reading.

"Well life's to short and I'm going to treat myself." Exactly!
Welcome to the Forum.

May your 'S' tin bulge quickly. I wonder too if I my fathers Jags have influenced my decisions..like inheriting he Jag gene.

Good luck and looking forward to the "I just brought an S Type post"
Cheers,Neil

I wish you success. You'll learn just about everything there is to know about Jaguars in these forums. The only thing you can't learn from reading is what it's like to own one.
Welcome from ElinorB.

Default Welcome to Jaguar Forums

Welcome concretefingers ... and greetings from all down under ...

Wow ... I would normally be offering up with my welcome, some sober advice about the merits of your patient "period of pre-purchase reasearch". Well ... to hell with that ... I want your wife to make me one of those "Daddy's Jaguar Fund" savings tins. Tell her I'll gladly pay to get it air freighted to Oz to avoid any delay. Do they come in different sizes ... coz even though I seemed to have owned so many Jaguars, raced a few, I still have a wish list that's a mite long.

Better still, this wife of yours may have stumbled on a business opportunity!!! Perhaps I should fly over to discuss the Australasian marketing? Is early next week convenient?

What a privileged gentleman you are ... as a very biased S-Type owner, I just know this new car of yours is going to blow your socks off. Oh, it'll scratch you occasionally, and there is a need to do some power reading and checking off against your cat ... but do tell us more about this wife of yours ....

I have my own version of course ... wonderfully married to my Chris for over 45 years now, and I still wake up each morning in absolute awe that she said "yes" at the appropriate time ... but even her candle would flutter and dim when overshadowed by the brilliance of your model. What a cracker achievement ... savings tin one day; brand new pre-loved S-Type the next. Truly, I'm bloody gobsmacked.

So welcome again, my man ... use the links provided by others to go to User CP, down to Avatar (pic? cartoon?) then repeat to Signature and enter lasting details of your new Black Cat so that you receive advice accurate for your model, year etc. Jump over to our beloved S-Type section to fill up on all the manuals and wiring downloads, and read to your heart's content. All that remains is for you to dive in ... and enjoy.

Oh ... and bring that wife of yours along ... there will be a line of customers wanting to meet up with her. She could revolutionize the whole process of "saving up for a Jaguar".

Warm greetings, and best wishes,
Ken

Hahahahaha ... time for careful diplomacy now, cf.

A photo of me your wife does not need. Grandmas weep at the sight of me ... mothers hide their children. Even fellas have been known to weep into their beer!

Photos of some of the best of our Jags over the years? Let me set you a worthwhile challenge to work out how to access my albums here. There, you will find the companions to my avatar pic. That's wife Chris and our eldest son Jason taking his first steps ... he's now 44. I'm really proud of both the collection of classic cats, and a great fam.

Welcome again, and I look forward to catching up over in the various forums. All that remains is for you to dive in here ... and enjoy.

Cheers,
Ken

Well I was saving for a 03/04 S Type. But them my brother in law sent me a picture of a VERY tidy 99 that had only done 73k .With premium sound/satnav/CD multi changer/dark leather/factory fit reverse sensors and phone kit/voice activation. The seller settled for £625. I think it's a steal for that amount.
