Should I buy
Good day, I am new to this forum as I am interested in purchasing a 2007 XKR with 59000 km. Owner has very well keep the car as it does look amazing, started well,I drove it in the parking and everything seems good except a CHECK engine light on.......
I have look on the web for what would cause this but this does not seems to have a common cause mostly at 59000 km.... to me this is very low km and it should not have a check engine.
Price seems good at 30000$ canadian dollars but again as I am not familiar with these cars, my questions are:
1) Are XKR 2007 reliable cars?
2) are any obd2 tester good to get the check engine code and is there a list for these code for me to verify if it is a simple matter of something major.
Thanks for your help and guidance as I do love the car but had issue in the past with 7 series and I do want a balance between price, exciting high end and a few grand and a few visit to the garage a year
Let me know feebback Jaguarforums
thanks

Ask yourself why the owner has not fixed the check engine light before selling as this should have a impact on sale price.
Likely has not been successful in trying to get it repaired and is sick of the cost with no result.
I would walk away unless a jaguar independent or dealer gives you an idea of what the problem is and cost to fix not just reset the light.
The 4.2 engines are pretty reliable it's the electrics that let these cars down as not many places will touch them.
Walk away if the owner is not prepared to fix.

Hello,
30,000 seems a bit, um, Steep for any car of that age (unless it's Pristine), especially with the Check Engine light on.
I might counter offer $3000 and see if that sticks. However, I agree with Jim above, if it was a simple fix it would have already been done.
I wish you success whatever you decide.

I would not buy it with the CEL lit. In Ca. you cannot get a clear smog check in that condition. I would want to see the work order that cleared the light as well as a clean smog check, if applicable. Before purchase is when YOU have all the power. Make it clear to the seller that you will not buy it in that condition. I wouldn't use it as a bargaining chip to lower the price. Don't buy it unless it's right. It's important to begin your Jaguar experience with a car that you can drive and enjoy right away, in this way you can bond with it in a positive way. Believe me, that car will extract it's pound of flesh in the future!
